Bella Fabrics' program of classes are taken by dedicated and talented teachers, both local and interstate, each

bringing their individual talent and creativity to the classes they take.


Classes cover quilting, dressmaking, appliqué, embroidery,

EPP, crochet, to name a few.

All classes include light refreshments. Bring your own lunch or we can place an order for you from a local café.



Crochet Edge

Join Carolyn for this fun 3 hour class. You will learn techniques to complete the cotton crochet edge on a face washer. You can then use these new techniques to crochet the edges of completed quilts.


Class cost is $80 (and includes kit).

Join Carolyn to learn how to crochet this fun scrappy basket. Use it for your sewing offcuts or pop a pot plant in it.

Eva and Bella Dress Class

Cost of class: $80. Patterns are also required: $28 for Eva dress pattern (see photo on left) and $25 for Bella pattern (see photo on right).

Linens and cottons are available in store.

Learn To love Your Overlocker -  with Kate Mara

This one-day course (5-6 hours) gives students a greater understanding of their overlocker and allows them to continue using it confidently at home.  The kit provided includes a comprehensive 23 page booklet and all fabrics required for the day. The course covers four thread overlocking, three thread overlocking, rolled hem, understanding differential feed, techniques for better results when stitching a circle, corners and working with difficult fabrics.

Cost: $130, includes class, kit and workbook

Students are required to bring:

  • Their own overlocker -in good working order

  • Foot control

  • Accessories - screw drivers and so on

  • Rolled hem plate (if required to achieve a rolled hem on your machine)

  • Spare needles

  • Instruction manual

  • 4 spools of good quality overlocking thread

  • Scissors

  • Pen

Fabulous Flatlocking

A full one day class 5-6 hours - the first extension to the Learning to Love your Overlocker course.


This course provides an extensive coverage of flatlocking and ladder stitch with the course workbook covering wide and narrow flatlocking, various decorative applications including ribbon work, decorative thread, beading, lace insertion and creating a blind hem stitch.


The course workbook will be completed in the first part of the day. The second part of the day focusses on making a project - a beautiful and easy to construct notebook cover - allowing you to use techniques covered in the course.


Participants will be provided with all required fabrics to complete both the workbook and your related project.


This course is perfect for all skill levels. 

Cost of the class is $130 and the next scheduled class is Sunday 30th May.

Tuesday’s Table

Join Louise Papas every second Tuesday or every fourth Friday of the month for a fun session of hand stitching and a cuppa. Louise has designed many hand pieced quilts including The Avenue and Girl Next Door and will share her knowledge and love of hand piecing, hand quilting and needle turn appliqué. Bring your own work in progress or get Louise’s guidance on starting something new from the range available in store. Beginners and more advanced welcome.

Join Louise for a half day (10 am to 12:30 pm or 1 pm to 3:30 pm costing $35) or a whole day (10 am to 3:30 pm with half hour lunch break and costing $75).

Luna Lapin Class

Join Carolyn to learn how to make Luna Lapin, the delightful, quiet and kind bunny. Class runs from 10 am to 2 pm

Susan Smith Classes

Susan, a long time quilter who excels in the art of appliqué and hand piecing, takes classes in appliqué and needle point turn.


Class cost is $80.

Susan's classes are scheduled on the 3rd Sunday of each month, commencing 21st February, then 21st March, 23rd May, 20th June, 18th July, 22nd August, 19th September, 17th October and 21st November.


Susan also ran Summer School Classes over the Christmas - New Year Break. Their success prompted Bella Fabrics to arrange for Susan to run Summer School classes again in December 2021 and January 2022.

Christine Vlasic Classes

Christine, a long time quilter and pattern designer, will cover many techniques from hand piecing to machining and more. Her classes will be ideal for those just starting on their quilting journey.

Cost of class $80

Classes (from 10 am to 3 pm) are scheduled the first Sunday in each month. Class dates are 7th March, 2nd May, 6th June, 4th July, 8th August, 5th September, 3rd October, 7th November and 5th December.

Introducing Margaret Sampson-George

Marg's passion for all things quilting knows no bounds - from dancing hares to hexagon pears.

Her unique talents will inspire your creative urges to produce your very own piece. Marg has also authored "Take an Element Seeing Your possibilities".

Bella Fabrics'"Sit and Sew" sessions are scheduled for Thursday evenings, 4:30 pm to 9 pm and Wednesdays, 10 am to 2 pm.

Embroidery on Wool Class 

The Bella Fabrics' Team welcomes a new teacher - Glenda Cust - a multi-talented fabric artist who, over the years, has mastered many crafts including embroidery, crochet, weaving, patchwork and silk painting. Embroidery, however, remains Glenda's main passion.

Join Glenda for her embroidery on wool class where Glenda will share the wealth of her experience as well as encouraging you to develop your own embroidery style.

Cost: $80 plus the cost of the required kit.
